Old photo frame (the example frame it made out of old wooden doors)
Pieces of ribbon or medallion ribbon
Rub off patterns (optional)
2 x door handles
Sandpaper
Joiner’s glue or any other glue that dries transparent and that will not leave marks on the ribbon (e.g. Ponal)
Modge Podge

Varnish

Step 1
Sand the frame to remove any splinters or roughness. Make sure the surface is smooth. Remove excess dust with a damp cloth.
Step 2
Remove the loose back side of the photo frame. Cut strips of ribbon according to the width of the frame.
Step 3
Glue the ribbon with joiner's glue at the backside board and let it dry.
Step 4
Apply 5 layers of Modge Podge over the ribbon. Paint each layer in the opposite direction to seal the ribbon. Make sure that each layer is thoroughly dry before the new layer is applied.
Step 5
Rub the rub-off patterns around the frame to make a nice finish.
Step 6
Apply a layer of varnish to the frame, the bottom of the ribbon as well as on the rub-off patterns to seal and waterproof it.
Step 7
Place the handles in the position and drill holes in the wooden frame. Screw the handles onto the frame.
