Make a beautiful wall hook for your dishcloths. The metal almost creates the feeling of expensive pewter – few will believe that it is made of cool drink cans.
Draw the design on the paper and transfer it onto the wood plank. Determine the position of the fork hooks.
Step 3
Cut the cool drink cans open with a tin scissor until you have an open leave of metal.
IMPORTANT: be careful not to cut yourself with the metal sides.
Step 4
Transfer the design unto the metal and cut with the kitchen scissor. A tin scissor is not very good at cutting fine designs out neatly.
Step 5
Place the metal design in position and fasten the corners with the tacks. If the design is big, the sides may also be fastened with the tacks to ensure that the design is flat against the wood.
Step 6
Finish all the designs.
Step 7
Bend the forks teeth until it is horizontal. Place the forks in their position and fasten the handle of the fork with fencing staples. Bend the handle to form the hook. Fasten two more tacks between the teeth of the fork to enforce the fork hook.
Step 8
Mix the grout according to the instructions and put on the rubber gloves. Rub the grout with circle movements over the wood surface and the design. Clean the metal design.
Step 9
Let the grout dry. Polish the metal clean so that it shines.
Step 10
Use a cloth and wipe the black craft paint over the grout background. Clean the metal again. Let it dry thoroughly.
Step 11
Rub the red oxide craft paint over the black paint and let it dry thoroughly. Rub the metal clean.
